What is Rejuran I?
Rejuran I consists of polynucleotides (PN) used for the clinical lightening of dark eye circles. It is the least viscous compared to the other subtypes of Rejuran and its ability to spread and mould easily makes it highly suitable for treating the tear trough region.
How does the Rejuran I treatment work?
There are 2 main effects of PN. These are the following
- Wound healing through stimulation of growth factors, increasing microcirculation
- Anti-inflammatory effects through the scavenging of free radicals and blockage of inflammatory cytokines in the body.
It stimulates intrinsic fibroblast activity and collagen formation, while at the same time providing mechanical support for cell and extracellular matrix (ECM) to grow. The above leads to the rejuvenation and lightening of the dark eye circles. There is also some noticeable volumization of the tear trough region which improves the overall cosmetic result.
How many treatments do I need to improve my dark eye circles and what is the treatment interval?
A course of 3 injection session spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended to see clinically appreciable results.
Are there any side effects?
Possible common side effects are usually mild and injection-related. These include e.g. slight redness, swelling, itching, mild bruising, etc. Rejuran I should also not be injected together with a cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler as this increases the risk of granuloma formation.
